Empire City Casino Celebrates 10 YearsCounty Executive Robert P. Astorino congratulates Empire City Casino on nearly a decade of success.

In praising Empire City Casino and its owners, the Rooney family, on its 10th anniversary in Westchester, the County Executive noted that the vibrant entertainment destination and venue has not only been a boon to the regional economy -- generating hundreds of millions in spending and creating over 1,350 local jobs -- but it has contributed $2.71 billion for New York schools, which makes up 40 percent of all education revenues from New York’s video lottery terminals.

Pizza Veloce openingJan. 6, 2017- County Executive Robert P. Astorino, joined by White Plains Mayor Tom Roach, welcomed a new small business, Pizzeria Veloce, to Westchester at a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday in White Plains.

“Our county is proud to have so many small businesses, especially restaurants, that are the back-bone of our economy,” said Astorino. “I am so happy to welcome Pizzeria Veloce to Westchester as they add to our great restaurant scene and local economy.”

Pizzeria Veloce is a pizza and salad restaurant where customers have the option of choosing one of the restaurant’s signature dishes or creating their own. This is also one of the few fast-casual restaurants that make their own dough, cheese, sauce and prepare their own produce in house.

Drum HillDec. 14, 2016,-Westchester County Director of Economic Development William Mooney joined Peekskill Mayor Frank Catalina, Westchester County legislator John Testa and representatives from Energize NY and Con Edison to celebrate the completion of the first large multifamily energy efficiency upgrade project funded with Energize NY Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing.

Drum Hill Senior Living, which provides affordable, independent living housing for seniors, completed the $429,000 energy upgrades, using twenty-year Energize NY PACE financing at a 3.14% interest rate. The interest rate was made even more affordable using Qualified Energy Conservation Bonds from Westchester County. Westchester County has made available $4 million in QECBs to Energize NY to fund clean energy upgrades to affordable housing facilities and buildings owned by not-for-profits. Drum Hill is the fourth project to receive QECB-enhanced PACE financing.
